Where My Imagination Took Me
Today, I didn’t feel like doing anything.
I didn’t want to work, think, or deal with anything at all.
So I lay back on the couch and closed my eyes.
For a moment, nothing happened.
Then I began to imagine myself sitting beside a river.
I had a small cabin in the middle of a forest. It wasn’t big. It didn’t need to be. It had enough space for me. A window, a small table, a comfortable chair, and the sound of the river flowing outside.
I took my coffee and sat in front of the cabin.
My dog was there too.
My companion.
While he ate his food, I took a small sip of my coffee. Every now and then, I looked at him. For a brief moment, he looked back at me before returning to his meal.
I think we were both happy.
We weren’t talking.
But perhaps the best companionship doesn’t always need words.
The river kept flowing. The trees moved gently in the wind. A soft breeze touched my face.
My brain was creating all of it.
The cabin.
The river.
The forest.
Even my dog.
But my heart was doing something else.
It seemed to whisper quietly:
Keep going...
So I did.
I finished my coffee and took a little walk with my dog. We stopped by the river. He explored the ground and followed different scents while I simply watched the water.
There was nowhere I needed to be.
Nothing I had to do.
For that moment, I was simply there.
Maybe sometimes we don’t really need to go somewhere.
Maybe we can travel far away without ever leaving where we are.
While lying on a couch.
By closing our eyes.
And allowing ourselves to imagine.
Then I opened my eyes.
I was still lying on the same couch.
But strangely, I could still hear the river.
And perhaps, any moment now, my dog would come and sit beside me.
Who knows?
