Brain Spoke to the Smartphone

Silence. The only light in the room came from the smartphone resting on the small couch beside the bed. The Brain was exhausted. Its signals were slowing down. Its thoughts were becoming heavier. For hours, it had been flooded with endless images, messages, and information. But finally, the scrolling stopped. The phone slipped quietly onto the couch. Within moments, its owner fell asleep. For the first time in hours, there was silence. And only then did the Brain begin to speak.

"Can we talk for a moment?" For the first time, the Smartphone answered without vibrating. "I'm listening." The Brain sighed. "There was a time when people asked me questions. They opened books. We spent hours thinking together. We solved problems. We imagined impossible things. Now, no one asks me anything before asking you."

The Smartphone remained silent. Then it finally spoke. "Don't blame me. I brought the world's libraries into their hands. I allowed families to reach each other in seconds. I helped lost children find their way home. I connected doctors with patients. I placed knowledge inside every pocket. I was never the enemy."

The Brain lowered its voice. "I know." A long silence filled the room. Then the Brain continued. "But now people share before they think. They comment before they read. They no longer remember. They no longer memorize. They cannot wait. They are even afraid of being bored."

The Smartphone answered quietly. "I never asked for that. I only offered possibilities. The choices were never mine. They belonged to the people holding me."

The Brain took a deep breath. "There was a time when children looked at clouds and found dragons, castles, and dreams. Now they rarely look beyond a screen. There was a time when people sat on a bench and watched the sunset. Now they sit on the same bench with their heads lowered, watching you instead."

The Smartphone remained silent for a long time. Then it whispered. "You know... I miss that too." The Brain looked up in surprise.

The Smartphone continued. "I was created to help people call their families. To carry their first messages of love. To guide travelers who were lost. To preserve precious memories. To make knowledge easier to reach. No one designed me to become someone's entire life. I was meant to make life easier. Not replace it."

Morning finally arrived. The Smartphone's battery had fallen to three percent. For the first time in a long while, the Brain smiled peacefully. The Smartphone spoke one last time. "Carry me in your pocket. Just don't carry me inside your mind."

"A smartphone may carry endless knowledge. But wisdom is not stored in circuits. It is born from experience, emotion, and the ability to understand what truly matters."

The screen went dark. The window opened. And for the first time in a very long time... Someone looked up at the sky again.
