I Am a School Bus
Now I am silent.
With my rusted body, cracked windows, and wheels that no longer turn, I spend my days in a forgotten scrapyard.
There was a time when the sun could hardly rise before I did.
Long before the city awoke, my engine would come to life. I traveled through quiet streets, stopping at familiar homes to welcome my little passengers one by one.
Some climbed aboard with sleepy eyes.
Some hurried to finish the last bite of breakfast.
Some suddenly remembered they had forgotten their school bag and ran back to the house.
What I miss most is their laughter.
I was never just carrying children.
I was carrying the future.
The little girl who loved drawing in the back seat may have become an architect.
The boy who could never stop talking about the stars may have become an astronomer.
The child who made everyone laugh may now bring smiles to thousands of people.
The quiet student who spent every journey looking out the window may have become a doctor saving lives every day.
Every morning my seats were filled with dreams.
Some dreamed of becoming teachers.
Some dreamed of becoming pilots.
Some dreamed of becoming police officers.
Some dreamed of becoming musicians.
Some simply dreamed of living a happy life.
I never asked whether they would succeed.
My only job was to take them safely to school.
Life wrote the rest of their stories.
The years passed.
The children grew up.
Schools changed.
The city grew larger.
I grew older.
One day a newer and more modern school bus took my place.
My journey quietly came to an end.
No one said goodbye.
Now I wait in this scrapyard.
Sometimes I hear the sound of other school buses passing by.
Even now, something inside me comes alive when I hear their engines.
Perhaps they are carrying the children of the children I once carried.
That thought makes me smile.
I may have been forgotten.
But the memories I carried will never become scrap.
Every scratch on my body, every dent, and every patch of rust holds the echoes of laughter, farewells, hopes, and dreams.
I was a school bus.
Every morning, I carried tomorrow.
The ArticleCorner Perspective
Every time I see a school bus, I remember my childhood.
My classmates are now living different lives in different places, each following a unique path.
But the school bus that carried us, and the driver who safely took us there every morning, still have a place on the quiet shelves of my heart.
Some journeys never truly end.
