A Message from Dr. Mind
An ArticleCorner Manager's Note:
I received another message from Dr. Mind, and I thought I should share it with you.
After reading it, I realized that his recent encounter with Dr. Heart at the shopping mall may have revealed something we had not noticed before.
There seems to be a very clear difference between the two of them.
Dr. Mind appears to have a rather minimalist approach to shopping.
Dr. Heart, on the other hand, seems to genuinely enjoy it.
According to Dr. Mind, he went to the shopping mall with a list he had prepared in advance. He knew what he needed, checked the products, and bought only the things he considered necessary.
By the end of his shopping, he had just one bag in his hand.
Dr. Heart's shopping experience was quite different.
She did not simply look for the things she needed. As she walked through the stores, she also bought things she liked, things she found beautiful, and things she thought would make her happy.
Eventually, she met Dr. Mind with both hands full of shopping bags.
I suppose Dr. Mind asks himself a question before buying something:
"Do I really need this?"
Dr. Heart may sometimes ask a different question:
"Will this make me happy?"
Perhaps this was the first real difference in the way they see life.
After shopping, Dr. Mind noticed all the bags Dr. Heart was carrying and decided to help her. He took some of the bags and walked with her all the way to her home.
When they arrived, Dr. Heart thanked him and invited him inside for a cup of coffee.
But Dr. Mind did not go in.
His explanation later was rather interesting.
That day, Dr. Heart was dressed in a stylish and comfortable way. Dr. Mind admitted that he may have been slightly affected when he saw her. Her appearance that day had caught his attention a little more than usual.
And when she invited him in for coffee, he apparently paused for a moment.
Then he decided to listen to his logic.
Perhaps, somewhere in his mind, he thought:
"At this moment, I am caught between my logic and my desires."
But in the end, he made his decision.
He politely thanked Dr. Heart, wished her a good night, and left.
And somehow, this makes the difference between them even more interesting.
Dr. Heart often listens to what her heart says.
Dr. Mind, even when his heart starts speaking, still wants to check what his logic has to say first.
But here at ArticleCorner, we have a little question.
Did Dr. Mind really leave because he did not want coffee?
Or...
Did he realize that he was a little too affected by Dr. Heart and decide that listening to his logic was the safer choice?
We’ll let Dr. Mind answer that one himself. If you’re really curious, you can ask him yourself.
An ArticleCorner Afterword:
Perhaps Dr. Mind and Dr. Heart are simply carrying the qualities of their names.
The heart feels.
The mind searches for logic.
The heart follows emotions, while the mind looks for reasons.
Maybe that is why Dr. Heart can simply enjoy the moment, while Dr. Mind stops for a moment and asks himself what that moment really means.
After all, perhaps this is what makes the relationship between the mind and the heart so fascinating.
The heart feels. The brain looks for a reason.
